Summer Trip 2006

Day 4   East Glacier, Mt to Glasgow, MT  330 miles

Weather: Windy and cool

DAY 4

This is a good news bad news day.  The good news is the dawn broke with the sun shining!  The bad news is that "then the winds came!"  There were steady 40 mph winds all day with gust exceeding that.  We managed to ride with the wind most of the day but periodically we had to ride north or south across the wind.  All in all we had a good day but were very glad to reach Glasgow, MT about 3:15 PM.

We rode by the first motel where we had planned to stay, no vacancy.  No problem, we rode to the second motel I had researched.  This should be no problem right, because it is only 3:30 PM by now.  Yes you guessed it, the second was full also and Barb was told every thing in town was full.  We checked out two other motels that we had passed by and on the second try we found a room.  After we got the key we opened the door to our room and someone was clearly still in there.  So back we go again, thankful to end up with a smoking room, the last room left.  Hey, the price was a Clark's price, $55.80.

I did not get a chance to take any pictures while on the road due to the high winds.  The pictures I did take were from the motel parking lot.  We basically spent the day in big sky country, a lot of prarie and wide open spaces.
