Summer Trip 2006

DAY 2  Spokane, WA to Sandpoint, ID to Hope, ID to Flathead Lake and north to Kalispell, MT.

The weather was sunny and beautiful.

DAY 2

Another wonderful day!  We started the day by attending church with Ben and Sarah in Coberg.  Coberg is north of Spokane on Highway 2 which is the route we were taking.  After church we rolled north to Sandpoint, ID.  We had a great lunch on a deck overlooking a harbor on the lake.  It is about 70 degrees and absolutely beautiful.  From there we rounded the lake and headed south through Hope, ID.  We took a picture of the old Hope Hotel.  Barb and I stayed here a few years ago.

Now it is on to Highway 200.  It runs along a beautiful river.  We actually were riding down a valley.  The MT speed limit was 70 but we could not go this fast due to the deer running across the road.  We had to brake abruptly 3 or 4 times.

From the river valley we climbed up to a high grassy plateau that we sailed over and ended up on the shores of Flathead Lake.  What beautiful views!

I failed to calculate the time change into the days arrival time so we got into our motel about 6:30 PM.  We unloaded the bike and headed to dinner.  We ate at a mexican restaurant right next door to the motel.

Oh, by the way, while we were in Sandpoint I called the East Glacier Park Lodge and got reservation for tomorrow night.  I will take some good pictures.  It is a magnificient lodge!

Two great days behind us and hopefully many more to come.   However, the weather report for tomorrow is for possible showers.
