Day 19  Rapid City, SD to Buffalo, WY  to Worland, WY Miles: 300 Weather: Wonderful in the morning but windy.  Crazy over the pass with snow, hail, and hard rain.  The day ended very warm and as I write this narrative it is raining hard outside.

There was a lot to pack into today's narrative so here goes.  The motel last night was a disaster.  Our first room had a large wet sticky spot on the floor on Barb's side of the bed.  She found it in her bare feet.  So off she trots to tell the manager.  After looking at at least three rooms, we moved into the fourth.  The first picture was what was displayed on the motel reader board.

Next we hung out in the morning until the Rapid City Honda shop opened at 9:00 AM to see about a replacement audio cord for Barb's helmet.  This is a headset made by J&M Electronics so there was a very remote possibility that this shop would have one.  Yes, I found the only one hanging on a hook about 6 inches off the floor.  We also bought Barb a new pair of leather gloves.  She lost one of her gloves when I asked her to look at the map while we were riding.  This could get expensive so no tell 'in where we will end up.

After leaving the Honda shop in Rapid City we jumped on I90 and headed to Buffalo, WY.  Then turned on US 16 over Powder River Pass  (9,666 ft.) and through Ten Sleep Canyon.  While going over the pass, we had rain, hail, thunder and lightening!  We rounded one curve an there was 4-6 inches of ice/snow/hail on the road and I rode in the ruts left by the previous vehicle for about 1/2 a mile.  15 minutes later we were on dry pavement and it was sunny and 90 degrees when we got to Worland, WY where we will spend the night.

Barb took 75 pictures today and she did a great job!  Any of those dark clouds you see is what we ran into as we rode over the pass to Worland.  Tomorrow we are off to Cody, WY for two days.  I have scheduled an oil change for tomorrow afternoon.

Summer of 2006

This summer we plan to be on the road 25 days traveling as far east as Michigan. We plan to head west via Washington, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota, and the UP of Michigan.
