DAY 18Tuesday July 4, 2006 We got an early start this morning but not so early that we missed the home made carmel rolls at the Super 8 breakfast buffet, made fresh that morning. They do things differently in these small towns. This motel also had home made chocolate chip cookies any time you wanted. It was hard to leave. We were on the road a little before 7:00 AM. The weather forecast was for thunder showers. Some times the weather man is accurate. He was today. It rained from Huron to Pierre which is about 118 miles and it rained most of the time from Pierre to Wall. However, while we were eating lunch at the famous Wall Drug the sun came out and it stayed dry the rest of the day. We didn't realize it until we checked into our motel that the time had changed when we crossed the Missouri River in Pierre, so we actually arrived at 2:15 PM instead of 3:15 PM. Barb has a short in her helmet headset. She can her me but cannot transmit. You can't believe how quiet it was riding today! We will call a couple of Honda shops and see if we can find a replacement. Believe me, this is a remote possibility since the headset is not made by Honda. Tomorrow we head for Worland, WY and then on to Cody, WY for a couple of days. If the weather is good, we will spend a day riding the Beartooth Highway. This is a scenic road that all motorcyclist want to ride sometime. It reaches an elevation of 10,947 feet. The summit of Mt Hood is 11,200 ft. We will also climb two other passes that are over 9,000 ft as well. I will warn you that the motels we have booked do not have wireless access so I will try to scramble and find a way to upload our recent pages.
