DAY 13Our wake up call came at 5:15 AM. I showered and Barb freshened up and we left for the ferry dock at 6:30 AM. It is an absolutely beautiful day! Sunny, clear and calm. We were the first motorcycle there but soon many others followed. I struck up a conversation with a harley rider who later helped me tie down my bike in the boat. He also gave me some tie downs that would work much better than the ones I had brought. He is the owner of a company that makes these tie downs as well as other motorcycle parts for motorcycles. The lake was calm and the boat ride was spectacular. Barb and I had both taken motion sickness medication and felt great the entire time. The ferry landed and we drove out of the boat and spent a little time adjusting our gear and were on our way. We rode about 50 miles to Fond du lac, WI. I found a wonderful drive in with excellent food that I remembered from my bike ride in 2003. We made a motel reservation from our picnic table and were on our way again. We had about 2 hours of riding time to reach Portage, WI. It got quite warm, 87 degrees and it is the first time since we started the trip that we both were sweaty and hot when we arrived at the motel. Barb showered while I took care of the bike. We walked to a good mexican restaurant for dinner. I am working on the web site and Barb is doing the laundry. Some how we lost one of her flip flops. Don't worry, she has more foot ware packed in her bags. She also lost a glove while reading the map while we were riding. This trip could get more expensive than I had planned for.
