Why is Clark Riding?

Well, if you read about me earlier you know there is a strong desire within me for adventure, a desire to challenge myself. I love to take on endeavors that I could not have accomplished when I set the goal, but by the end of the training period, believe that I could be successful. This is such an endeavor.

“You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face… you must do the thing you think you cannot do.” -Eleanor Roosevelt

I love our country and want to experience it in a deeper way. What better way to see it, experience it, and get to know many of its diverse people than to ride my bike across America. I want to feel America, smell the land and see the wondrous landscape. I want to see a sunset from Jackson Hole, smell the morning dew in Mankato, and taste the salty air in Portsmouth. Do you remember the books by Peter Jenkins, A Walk Across America and The Walk West? I want to experience our wonderful land first hand as he did.
I have been so blessed to grow and live in a land of the free that I want to experience it in a deeper way.

My prayer will be that God keep me safe and help me to experience all that I can and to become all that He desires me to be over the next 50 days. Lastly, that He will work through me to touch the lives of others.

“The marvelous richness of human experience would lose something of rewarding joy if there were no limitations to overcome. The hilltop hour would not be half so wonderful if there were no dark valleys to traverse.”
-Helen Keller
