Miles Ridden: 74

From: Little Falls, New York

To: Albany, New York

Today ended up being an easy day. The weather was very humid but still no rain. We continue to be so lucky. Steve was feeling considerably better so we pushed the pace a bit. It is easier for me to go faster and spin my pedals than to go slow and no spin. The terrain was rolling. We are starting to see some very old houses along our way. They have historical signs out front that indicate who built the house and when it was built. Many were built in the late 1700’s.

We also crossed a couple of bridges that double as locks. I have a couple of pictures of these bridges. Last night our ride leader spent a lot of time rerouting us a safer way which included riding on a bike path for about 15 miles. It was a well maintained path, black topped all the way, and very few people on it. We had so much fun on the path. About half way we stopped and got a large milkshake and a large gator aide. You just can’t imagine how much we eat and drink each day. Mike has told us to start tapering our eating now. I am not going to start a taper until I finish the two remaining hilly days. All in all it was a great day.

Danny’s mom and dad met us on the bike path. Mary has additional family here including her husband, and her sister and family. Other brothers and sisters will arrive tomorrow.

Tonight at RAP Barbara distributed forms to those of us who will ship our bikes back home. The end is really quickly approaching. I have mixed emotions about it all. I am ready for a change of pace and ready to be with my wife, family and friends, but I hate to think of the adventure ending. I wonder what will be next. This kind of thing has always been in my blood.

Well I’ll see you on the road tomorrow. Be sure to rest up tonight. We have lots of climbing tomorrow. Be safe.
